CFP® Code of Ethics

A CFP® designee shall:

  • Offer and provide professional services with integrity.
  • Be objective in providing professional services to clients.
  • Provide services to clients competently and maintain the necessary knowledge and skill to continue to do so in those areas in which the designee is engaged.
  • Perform professional services in a manner that is fair and reasonable to clients, principals, partners, and employers and shall disclose conflict(s) of interest(s) in providing such services.
  • Not disclose any confidential client information without the specific consent of the client unless in response to proper legal process, to defend against charges of wrongdoing by the CFP® designee or in connection with a civil dispute between the CFP® designee and the client.
  • Act in a manner that demonstrates exemplary professional conduct.
  • Act diligently in providing professional services. CFP® designee's conduct in all matters shall reflect credit upon the profession.

Dave is the Founder and Owner of Petso Financial Consultants, LLC, one of the top advisory firms in the Northwest. He has been a financial advisor for more than 35 years and manages over $800 million in assets. Dave specializes in income planning for retirees and foundations. Dave is the host of “Money Matters” a live radio program every Saturday from 8:00 AM. to 10:00 AM on KIDO AM 580. He also appears every Monday on KTVB's morning news. Dave is a member and past president of the Idaho Chapter of the International Association of Financial Planners and enjoys being the guest speaker for a number of investment groups and business organizations throughout the community. Dave is married, has two adult daughters and three granddaughters. In his spare time, Dave and his wife enjoy golfing, traveling and creating their own adventures. 


Jennifer Stone, CFP®
Investment Advisor

Jennifer is the President of Petso Financial Consultants, LLC. She has worked with Dave Petso since 1994 and is fortunate to have been an integral part of building this very successful firm. Jennifer earned her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, designation in 2006. She works closely with Dave and his clients and also manages her own book of business. As Chief Compliance Officer she oversees administration and operations of the firm. Jennifer is married and has two daughters.


Thomas Brown, CFP®
Investment Advisor

Tom joined Petso Financial Consultants in 2005 after being with Micron Technology for over 17 years.  He graduated from Idaho State University in 1989 with a BBA in Finance/Accounting. In July of 2011, Tom earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, designation. Tom is married and has two children. He has run six marathons, is an 12 time Race to Robie Creek finisher, and enjoys golf, hunting, fishing and camping. In October 2013, he completed the Boise Foothills Frenzy 50K.


Erika Mutch, CFP®
Investment Advisor

Erika joined the Petso team in Spring of 2017 after moving from Cleveland, Ohio where she was a Paraplanner for four years.  She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.  Erika values her client relationships, and is dedicated to assisting clients in the development of comprehensive financial plans.  She and her husband enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring new places with their daughter. 



Dick Petso
Investment Advisor

Dick began his financial services career in 1979 with Piper Jaffray in Boise, Idaho. He has an accounting degree and MBA from West Virginia University. He has two adult children, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Dick spends his spare time enjoying golf, travel, and playing bridge.



John Yano
Investment Advisor

John has over 20 years of experience in the financial industry. He graduated from the Eastern Oregon State College with a degree in Business Economics.  John specializes in assisting small businesses and farmers in the Treasure Valley. John is married and has six children and three grandchildren. He is a member of the Treasure Valley Handball Association. 



Natalie Dante
Administrative Assistant 

Natalie joined Petso Financial in the Spring of 2020 as an administrative assistant. Natalie is married and has two sons. She and her family enjoy going for long drives and traveling to the Oregon Coast.
